the challenge

With a product as bold and expressive as BRIM’s headwear, standard packaging simply wouldn’t do. BRIM approached Christopher & Mae to develop a custom packaging system that elevated the unboxing experience, protected delicate items, and reflected the distinct personality of the brand. The packaging needed to function practically for both in-store purchases and shipping—while making an unforgettable visual statement.

brand immersion & research

We began with deep brand immersion—visiting the store, reviewing customer journeys, and understanding the values and aesthetic that make BRIM unique. Our team studied the materials, shapes, and emotional drivers behind luxury hat purchasing to inform a packaging system that felt as premium as the products themselves.

strategic design thinking

Our design centered around form, texture, and storytelling. The packaging needed to protect each hat’s integrity without compromising on beauty. We incorporated rigid structures, custom inserts, and a layered unboxing experience to reflect BRIM’s attention to detail.

The exterior featured clean, modern typography paired with subtle brand iconography, while the interior revealed thoughtful touches like a branded thank-you card and protective tissue with custom print.

material selection & sustainability

We sourced high-quality, eco-conscious materials, aligning with BRIM’s ethos of craftsmanship and quality. From reinforced corrugated boxes for shipping to elegant paperboard for in-store carriers, every choice was both intentional and durable.

prototyping & testing

We created multiple mockups and tested for durability, shelf appeal, and ease of assembly. This ensured a system that worked seamlessly in-store while enhancing the customer’s perception of value.

the impact

The final packaging system became an extension of the BRIM brand—elevated, refined, and memorable. Customers responded enthusiastically, often sharing unboxing experiences on social media, and staff reported smoother fulfillment workflows and improved brand presentation at every touchpoint.
